Focus and Scope

Journal of Geography, Regional Planning and Development is dedicated to advancing scholarly knowledge in the interdisciplinary fields of geography, regional planning, development, and geology. This journal seeks to provide a comprehensive platform for research that addresses contemporary issues and challenges within these domains. We welcome original, high-quality research articles, reviews, and theoretical contributions that cover a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Geographical Sciences: Analysis of spatial patterns and processes across diverse environments, including human-environment interactions, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and spatial data analysis.

  • Regional Planning: Examination of spatial planning strategies, policies, and practices aimed at fostering sustainable development, managing urban and rural areas, and enhancing regional resilience. This includes land use planning, transportation planning, and environmental management.

  • Development Studies: Exploration of socio-economic development strategies and their implications on various scales, from local to global. Topics may include economic growth, poverty alleviation, social equity, and the impact of globalization on regional development.

  • Environmental and Resource Management: Research focused on the management and conservation of natural resources, environmental impacts of human activities, and strategies for sustainable resource use.

  • Urban and Rural Studies: Investigations into the dynamics of urbanization, rural development, housing, infrastructure, and community planning, with a focus on improving quality of life and fostering balanced regional growth.

  • Policy and Governance: Analysis of policy frameworks and governance structures that influence regional development and planning processes, including the role of institutions, public participation, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Geology: Studies on earth processes, geological formations, natural hazards, mineral and energy resources, geomorphology, hydrogeology, and tectonic activities. Contributions that explore the intersections between geology, geography, and regional planning are particularly welcome, especially those addressing disaster risk reduction, sustainable resource extraction, and environmental resilience.

Journal of Geography, Regional Planning and Development aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to address pressing geographical, geological, and developmental issues. We encourage submissions that offer innovative solutions, empirical evidence, and theoretical advancements that contribute to the betterment of regional and global communities.
